Follow up - I just got a phone call from the local (Duluth) Papa Johns manager and he was curious about it too. He said he'd never seen this coupon and wondered if it might be a hoax. I found the original here. I have to hand it to Papa Johns for fast and courteous follow up.
Did you actually point it out to them, or did they find it on your website? Even if this one is a hoax, there's plenty of real stuff like this out there. My favorite feature of Consumer Reports magazine is the back page, where they list things like this each month that either they've come across or readers have sent in. The latest issue features an ad for Insight Digital Cable and an ad for Dish Network--using the exact same family, a box of Instant Sweet Potato Mashed Potatoes--which the fine print reveals to contain NO sweet potatoes, and an ad with a coupon for a "FREE Stun Gun or Wind Chime with Purchase or Rental" of a storage shed. Huh?? Kind of like McDonald's boy/girl Happy Meal toys--but not. ::shakes head:: CR's headline for that one read, "Back away from the windchime, Buddy".
Celia, you give my blog way too much web cred. No, I e-mailed Papa Johns and invited them to view the site and comment. They, apparently, forwarded it on to my local Papa Johns manager and he called me after looking at the website rather than leaving a comment himself.
Nah, I just anticipate that someday all major corporations will have someone in their employ to do nothing but constantly check the company's web buzz and cred. I would have been really impressed if they found you first, but I figured you probably alerted them.
